PLEASE READ TO THE END AS OUR PROCEDURES HAVE CHANGED - Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the Gaddesden Charity Ride will incorporate the Gaddesden Estate horse ride which includes 28 jumps plus an area that is not usually open to horse riders. Riders will have the opportunity to ride on the farm tracks and through beautiful woodland and parkland. The length of the route will be around 10 miles with each rider completing the course receiving a rosette. This Charity Ride is to say thank you to the Gaddesden Place Riding for the Disabled and the British Horse Society for all their help and support with our Park and Ride events. The money raised will go to these fantastic charities, if you would like to make any additional donations to these charities they both have JustGiving pages just visit their websites for further information. There will be some equestrian and lifestyle stalls at the event, including burgers, cakes, tea, coffee and a PIMMS bar.
Park up and follow a route around the estate's farm tracks, woodland rides, bridleways and rural roads. You can also enjoy the five furlong grass gallop and extra jumps, with the full range of 30 optional jumps now available. These range from 2ft - 3ft 3ins. Please note all children under 16 years old must be accompanied by a mounted, responsible adult for the whole ride. No stallions/entires allowed. All riders are required to wear an emergency medical and contact armband or carry a temporary card in an outside pocket. Correct riding clothes and hard hats, correctly fastened and to the correct standard must be worn. Non-fixed peak hats and body protectors are recommended for those jumping. Please clear away all hay, droppings, etc from around your horsebox/trailer. Do not muck out at venue. Do not leave vehicles unlocked and keep valuables out of sight, the organisers accept no liability for loss or damage to personnel, equines, vehicles or goods. You must have your own 3rd party liability insurance if you are not a BHS Gold member.
The time slot you book will be your time slot to leave within, you will be advised when to leave by the steward. Please check in with the steward in the gazebo and obtain a sash. You will not be notified of an allocated time slot as in previous years. Therefore if you wish to ride with friends or family please ensure that you book the same time slot as we are unable to adjust these timings once you have booked.
Refund Policy - Participants will have the option to move to another Park and Ride date, or, if unable to make an alternative date, request a refund, when giving at least one full week's notice. If the organisers are forced to cancel the event - for example in the case of bad weather - participants will again have the option to move to another Park and Ride date or request a refund. We regret that we are unable to offer a refund or an alternative date if your request for a refund is due to circumstances outside our control (for example if you or your horse are unwell) when less than 7 days' notice of your withdrawal from the event is given.
